The order counter is kept to the minimum area and stands deep inside the store like a street stall. Other areas are designed in an open space mode; the circulation routes and sight lines are free and flowing. The roof eave extends from the exterior into the interior, blurring the sense of a physical boundary between indoor and outdoor environment in order to bring people in naturally. Walking into the coffee shop, the bar counter could be found on the right-hand side. Here the counter is like a small stage for the baristas where customers can observe the producing process from beans to a cup of coffee up close. By designing the seating area as a linear layout – similar to the street shoulder where people can sit down at will, a natural and unpretentious interaction distance and pattern is created between customers and baristas and among customers. When stepping up to the spiral staircase which leads to the roof terrace, customers would temporarily escape from the hustle and bustle on the streets within a constraint space and immerse themselves in a unique and instant tranquillity. As slowly climbing up, the sight would gradually look up to the sky.
