The snow-covered pine forest shone into the restaurant from the west side, accompanied by the roaring indoor fire. A feeling of crispness and warmth permeated the space. This is the unique characteristic of the IM FINE restaurant in the city of Xining: within the purity of the high plateau, there is a warm and lazy corner waiting for the arrival of diners. It is a three-story independent building, adjacent to the main street of the block on the north side, which is the main display face of the building. It connects to a pedestrian walkway on the west side, offering a relatively good landscape view. Therefore, the design extended a large-scale display surface made of white steel plates and glass on the north facade of the building. The height of the display surface was carefully considered to ensure that people on the pedestrian bridge—an important hub for street traffic—could notice this “big hand” sign. A wave, a smile, represents the restaurant’s friendliness towards the city and the neighborhood. The mezzanine extends outward on the west side to form a cantilevered balcony.
