The total building area is about 399,000 square meters, comprising roughly 214,000 square meters above ground and 185,000 square meters below ground. The site is bordered by a natural landscape water system to the east, offering views toward Hongqiao Airport, and by an urban greenbelt and the Shenhai Expressway to the west, presenting a varied interface of urban speeds and scales. Addressing the core demands of a corporate headquarters for architectural iconicity and a technological aesthetic, the design team created a super-sized, approximately 240m x 240m square continuous office space formed by two interlocking L-shaped volumes that appear to “float” above a forested landscape.
