The project is located in the Wenhua campus of Zhejiang University of Finance and economics, Wenyi West Road, Hangzhou. It is adjacent to Yile road in the East, Fengtan road in the west, Gaoji road in the South and Wenyi West Road in the north. The total construction area of the project is about 66000 square meters, with a height limit of 80m.

设计背景

依据学校的发展规划，结合学校发展的实际需要，今后文华校区将主要用于创新创业、高端人才教育、学术交流等。而一期综合楼一定是学校新功能定位的最集中的展示区和样板。依据新的功能定位，用建筑的语言来体现创新创业的时代精神，在融入城市空间的同时，与保留的校园建筑空间形成积极对话，成为了设计的重点。

Design background

According to the development plan of the University and the actual needs of the development of the University, in the future, Wenhua campus will be mainly used for innovation and entrepreneurship, high-end talent education, academic exchanges, etc. The phase I complex building must be the most concentrated display area and model for the new function positioning of the school. According to the new functional orientation, the architectural language is used to reflect the spirit of the times of innovation and entrepreneurship. While integrating into the urban space, it forms a positive dialogue with the reserved campus architectural space, which has become the focus of the design.

基地现状，Base status

与城市交融 ── 开放和吸纳

建筑采用回字型的规整布局，沿文一西路及益乐路形成连续、完整的城市界面。在回字形的东南及西北对角方位设置高层，并对建筑形体做了阶梯退台处理，两栋高层空间上相互呼应，形体完整。不突兀于城市整体肌理，但作为街角的较大规模体量，又能有一定的辨识度。

建筑沿北侧文一西路适度退让，形成了景观入口广场。沿东侧益乐路做了局部架空处理，形成面向城市的开放空间，成为吸引人流到来的活力场所。

Blending with the city -- opening and absorbing

The building adopts the regular layout of zigzag type, forming a continuous and complete urban interface along Wenyi West Road and Yile road. The high-rise buildings are set in the southeast and northwest diagonal directions of the Hui shape, and the building shape is stepped back. The two high-rise buildings echo each other in space and have a complete shape. It does not stand out from the overall texture of the city, but as a large-scale volume at the corner, it can have a certain degree of recognition.

The building moderately retreats along Wenyi West Road in the north, forming a landscape entrance square. Partial overhead treatment has been made along Yile road in the east to form an open space facing the city and become a dynamic place to attract people.

与城市相融，Integration with the city

与校园交融 ── 对话与对景

建筑南侧及西侧为校园保留的教学楼及图书馆。设计方案积极寻求与周边保留建筑的空间对话，对建筑的南侧边界做了严格限定，在空间上与教学楼及图书馆共同围合成一个景观休闲广场。新建筑与旧建筑立面的对话，空间上互为对景，成为有趣的视觉体验。

Blending with Campus -- dialogue and scenery

The South and west sides of the building are the teaching building and library reserved on the campus. The design scheme actively seeks the space dialogue with the surrounding reserved buildings, strictly limits the south boundary of the building, and forms a landscape leisure square with the teaching building and Library in space. The dialogue between the new building and the facade of the old building is spatially opposite to each other, which has become an interesting visual experience.

与校园相融，Integration with campus

整体的地标性

强化地块的整体识别性，而不单单是一个主楼的个体形象。在这样的构思前提下，就避免了对主楼造型特异性的过分表达，而将设计的重点落在整体性的塑造，包括形态的整体性和空间的整体性。建筑形体通过退台设计，使得高楼之间相互呼应并与多层裙房连为整体。

Overall landmark

Strengthen the overall identification of the plot, not just the individual image of a main building. On the premise of such conception, the over expression of the modeling specificity of the main building is avoided, and the focus of the design is on the shaping of integrity, including the integrity of form and space. The architectural form is designed by retreating the platform, so that the high-rise buildings echo each other and are connected with the multi-storey podium as a whole.

后记

设计和建造的过程中，还有很多思考，比如关于对所谓地标性的表达方式，对城市空间塑造的应对策略，对校园建筑城市性特质的呈现手段等等，这些思考持续贯穿着我们今后的建筑实践。建造过程中也有很多的平衡和取舍，比如外立面石材的选择，由于疫情的原因，原本定好的样板（在湖北）只能临时更换；内广场的简化等等，有时遗憾也是设计的一部分吧。

Postscript

In the process of design and construction, there are still many thoughts, such as the expression of the so-called landmark, the coping strategies for the shaping of urban space, the presentation means of the urban characteristics of campus buildings, and so on. These thoughts continue to run through our architectural practice in the future. There are also many balances and trade-offs in the construction process, such as the selection of facade stone. Due to the epidemic, the originally set model (in Hubei) can only be replaced temporarily; The simplification of the inner square is sometimes a part of the design.

不以物喜，不以己悲——我们对技术的思考和对学术的坚持不能因为几次投标的失利而动摇，也不能因为项目周期的漫长而失去斗志——始终铭记，与诸君共勉。
